Brow Lift in Scottsdale, AZ

While age comes with wisdom, it can also weigh on one’s facial features. The process of growing older can manifest in very distinctive ways, such as unwanted drooping eyebrows. Having brow lift surgery can raise a heavy, bowed looking brow line to make way for a softer, more youthful appearance. Dr. Prichard performs brow lift surgery to help reverse signs of aging in the upper portion of the face. For most men and women, this “hanging brow” begins to reveal itself sometime during their early thirties, or even late twenties in some cases. This comes about by the skin and deep attachments of the forehead becoming relaxed and eventually succumbing to the pull of gravity. Meanwhile, the fat that lies underneath the skin lessens, which can result in a tired or harsh aspect to one’s face. This tends to be seen particularly around the forehead and brow area, which causes undesirable shift in the overall look of one’s brow. A brow lift can help reverse these modifications, so that you may appear more youthful and refreshed.

The Brow Lift Procedure

The brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, helps to improve brow asymmetry and can help treat loose skin that contributes to a sagging brow. The brow lift can be performed using a few different techniques. The technique used will depend on the extent of the surgery and the individual needs of each patient. The endoscopic brow lift is a procedure where the surgeon would make a number of small incisions behind the hairline. A device known as an endoscope is then inserted through the incisions. The device contains a camera and a tube with a light at the end. This allows Dr. Prichard to see the treatment area more clearly. While using the endoscope to achieve a better view, Dr. Prichard will then insert a surgical instrument through another incision to carry out the procedure. The forehead tissue would be lifted and then put back in place. Sutures or clips are used to close the incision. This is a patient-friendly technique since smaller incisions are used. It ensures lesser downtime and facilitates a quicker recovery. The coronal brow lift involves a deeper incision. It is made from ear to ear on top of the head. Through the incision, Dr. Prichard will lift the tissues and muscles to place them in a higher position. The overlapping skin is removed, and the remaining skin will be closed to reform the contours of the brow. This technique, however, is not suitable for patients with a high hairline or thin hair.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Because of the varying nature in which women and men age, a brow lift procedure should not be approached in the same manner from one patient to the next. Your brow lift procedure will be made to your unique features and personal preference. Dr. Prichard’s main goal is to give you a brow lift that grants you with that renewed sense of youth that you’ve been seeking. Dr. Prichard strives to give you what is one of the best brow lifts Scottsdale has to offer.

During recovery

Following your brow lift surgery, it is recommended that you apply cold compresses to the newly treated areas for the first 24 hours. This helps to minimize bruising and swelling that’s likely to occur. It is very important that you keep your head properly elevated as much as possible during the first 7-10 days. Many patients find that sleeping in a recliner, or with extra pillows behind your head helps a great deal. Patients usually feel up to returning to work within 7 to 10 days, after the bruising and swelling has subsided.

During your consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Prichard will discuss your particular aspirations for facial rejuvenation, and exactly what you’re hoping to gain. At the time of your consultation, it is important to bring any questions or concerns you may be having to Dr. Prichard’s attention. By doing so, he’ll be able to address them accordingly.
